It's part of the payroll subscription you signed up for.

You mean the enhanced payroll?

We have two employees and the monthly per employee usage fee has been $4.35 ($2.00 per employee, plus our NY state sales tax).  On December 25, 2019, I was emailed a receipt for double that amount - $8.70.  No one can tell me what is going on here. I've tried to call, chat online and to no avail. Could someone just let me know if  the fee was doubled or was this a billing error? I received no notice on a price increase. Thank you.

Hey there, @LJ-8. Thanks for joining the Community. I'm here to help you with our QuickBooks Desktop payroll subscription fees.

Our current per employee pricing for all Desktop Payroll plans is $2.00 per employee. If your bill says otherwise, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team so it can be corrected. They have the tools necessary to view a detailed version of the bill to see what may have caused the discrepancy. You can contact the Team in just a couple clicks:

  1. Go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the Help window.

We're always a reply away should you have any other QuickBooks questions. Take care!

Thanks, but I have tried our suggestion 5 times today and get nowhere. Is there a certain time of day that would be better to try to connect?

When I set up to have QB's make the weekly payments to Federal and State, I thought that was included in our annual fee. I just got a receipt for $16 that says it is to cover monthly fee per employee. I don't do Direct Deposit.

Hi @VickiL29,

Without knowing which payroll service you are using, I can say that most of our payroll services have a base fee and a fee per active employee, regardless of whether or not you use direct deposit.  I can post the current pricing for both Online and Desktop payroll services below:

If the charges still don't seem right to you, I would recommend contacting the payroll support team so they can go over your exact plan what you are being charged for:

Hope that helps!
