I'm here to ensure you can move the tax payment to the appropriate account register, @jalene.

You can create a journal entry to transfer the payment to the correct bank account. I'd recommend consulting an accountant on what specific accounts to use to record the transaction to ensure the accuracy of your books. If you don't have one, not to worry! You can visit the ProAdvisor site to find an accountant.

  1. Go to the + New button.
  2. Select Journal entry.
  3. Fill in the needed details to create your journal entry.
  4. Click Save and close when done.

Here's an article you can read to learn about the basics in creating a journal entry: Create a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, to change the bank used for payroll, you can go through the Accounting Preferences and modify the posting account from there. Here are the steps to complete the process.

  1. Click the Gear icon, then Payroll settings.
  2. In the section titled Accounting at the bottom of the page, select Edit ✎.
  3. In the section titled Paycheck and payroll tax payments select Edit ✎.
  4. From the Bank account ▼ dropdown, choose the correct account in the drop-down menu.
  5. Select Continue, then Done and Done.
