Question

Should I categorize estimated State tax payments as State Tax or Estimated Taxes? This refers to categories in the Transactions section of QBSE.

Good day, Robert_Richard.

You can select State Tax to categorize the estimated state tax payments. Please know that this is only for recording purposes since QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't support state estimated quarterly taxes.

To check the type of taxes we don't calculate, here's an article: Estimated taxes explained.

If you have the estimated Federal tax payments, you can assign it to Taxes & Licenses Estimated Taxes. I've got this article for the details: Schedule C: Estimated Taxes.

We also update the existing categories, you can check it here: Categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm here if you have any additional questions about QuickBooks Self-Employed. Take care.
