There could be a limit that is less than the allowable contribution or there are some adjustments that lower the amount. Let's check to see if they exist. By the way, I'm not sure which template you meant. Payroll info section?
First, we'll check for limits:
From the Employees menu, select Employee Center.
Double-click the name of the employee to open their information.
Go to Payroll Info and check for IRA limits in the ADDITIONS, DEDUCTIONS, AND CONTRIBUTIONS section.
If you can't see the Simple IRA item in the employee's payroll info, we'll check the item itself.
From the Lists menu, choose Payroll Item List.
Look for your Simple IRA item and see if there's a limit. If there is and if it's lower than the allowable contribution, double-click the item and click Next till you reach the page where you can change the limit.
Second, check for adjustments or any entries that reduce the amount:
From the Reports menu, select Employees & Payroll.
Select Payroll Item Detail.
Click Customize Report and hit the Filter tab.
Click Payroll Item on the right table.
Expand the Payroll Item droplist in the middle.
Select your Simple IRA item and click OK.
Change the date range to last year.
Look for transactions that reduce the amount. You can double click on them to see more details about the transactions. If you need to delete some, please be sure to back up your company file first to keep the original data.
Please feel free to share what you'll find out, so we can guide you if there's a need for adjustments or corrections.
Thanks for your help, everything checked out. It appears we need to enter the amounts yearly into the employee payroll templates as the Simple Ira amounts change.
