Notifications are key to tracking your filing status, @BevM1. You'll receive an email update when your payroll forms are submitted and another when they’re accepted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

If you haven't seen these messages, I recommend checking your spam or junk folders. If you find it there, move it to your Inbox. Emails from Intuit will always come from an address with the domain name @intuit.com, including @e.intuit.com.

On the other hand, you can toggle between the Saved Filings tab and the E-filings tab to refresh the E-Filings list and update the status.

Keep in mind that the IRS and state agencies frequently update tax forms at the end of the year. It's important to stay current with your payroll updates to ensure everything is in order. You can do this by navigating to the Employees menu and selecting the Get Payroll Updates option.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Live Support team to check your W-2 filing status.

  1. Go to the Help menu and choose QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Type a brief description of your issue and concern in the box provided, then click Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account, select Continue, and then Continue with my account.
  5. You'll receive a single-use code in your email; enter the code and select Continue.
  6. Click Have us call you.

To ensure timely assistance, please check our support hours.

Once your submission is complete, you can print and share W-2s with your employees. For more information on this process, check out this article: Understand the timing for your W-2s.
