Employees and payroll

Hi there, @mflatley,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'll help you through the steps to resolve the error when exporting payroll to QuickBooks Desktop 2017.

Let’s first make sure you’re using Internet Explorer (IE) 7 and higher. To check, please follow the steps below:

1.    Launch IE.
2.    Go to Help or press Alt + H.
3.    Choose About Internet Explorer.

If it’s not yet updated, you can go to the Microsoft’s website to download and install IE 11.

Once done, we’ll need to add Intuit as a trusted site. Here’s how:

1.    Open IE.
2.    Press Alt + T to access the Tools menu.
3.    Click the Security tab.
4.    Choose Trusted sites.
5.    Pick Sites.
6.    Enter *.intuit.com.
7.    Uncheck the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone box.
8.    Click Add.
9.    Hit Close, then OK.

After following the solutions above, you can try exporting the payroll data using the One-click application. In case it still does not connect, please review the Active X settings to make sure you didn’t miss anything.

1.    Go back to Tools, then Internet Options.
2.    Click the Security tab.
3.    Select Custom level…

Here’s the list of suggested settings:

•    Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt: Enable
•    Allow scriptlets: Enable
•    Automatic prompting for Active X controls: Enable
•    Binary and script behaviors: Enable
•    Download signed Active X controls: Enable or Prompt
•    Download unsigned Active X controls: Prompt or Disable
•    Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe: Prompt or Disable
•    Run Active X controls and plug-ins: Enable or Prompt
•    Script Active X controls marked safe for scripting: Enable or Prompt
Scroll down to nearly the bottom of the list and under Scripting:

•    Active scripting: Enable
•    Scripting of java applets: Enable or Prompt

If the same error appears, you’ll need to uninstall One-Click, reinstall it, then reconnect to QuickBooks. The steps are outlined in the QuickBooks Desktop export troubleshooting (Mac, IIF, & One-Click) article. Please scroll down to Error code :FFFFFFFF80070003, or message “We’re having trouble connecting to QuickBooks. Please contact us. (solutions 6-9) under the QuickBooks One-Click section.

Let me know if there’s anything else you need. I’ll be here to help however I can. Have a great day.
