I entered a new employee that only worked one week of the pay period in quickbooks on line. QB is calculating the pay for the entire pay period. I only want to pay them for 5 days of this pay period. What steps should I take to have this calculate correctly?

If you know the gross amount that you want to pay them, you simply overtype it in QuickBooks, just highlight the amount it is calculating for their gross pay and type in what you want it to be, then it will calculate all of the taxes etc.

If the salary is $40,000/year you take that amount, divide it by 52 weeks. Divide that by 40 hours (if that's a normal work week) and then multiply that times 8 (if that's a normal work day) and you will have your daily rate.
You will choose the "salary" item, put in the amount for that pay period and make sure you choose the correct number of hours....let's say 8 days at 8 hours per day, would be 65 hours.
