- Create your 1099s in QuickBooks.
- When complete, choose the I'll file myself option.
- Choose the type of form you are printing.
- Check if the forms align properly by selecting Print sample on blank paper. If it looks good, choose Yes, looks good! If the alignment is not correct, choose No, it doesn't line up and follow the on-screen instructions to fix your alignment, then select Next.
- Confirm the form you want to print and select View selected 1099 contractors to confirm your contractors.
- Select Print on 1099 forms then Print to complete your printing.
- When complete then select Next then Done.

Print your 1099 forms

QuickBooks has a time saving feature to help you prepare your 1099s from the info you already have in your accounts. When preparing 1099 forms, if you choose not to e-file with Intuit, you'll want to print out copies to mail and complete your filing with the IRS, plus print and send a copy to each of your contractors.

Step 1: Purchase 1099 paper
Purchase your 1099 Kit by mid-January so you can print. You'll want to print and mail in time for IRS filing and contractor delivery deadlines.
Intuit offers 1099 Forms (two per sheet) with size 8 1/2" x 11" that includes compatible double-window envelopes with size 5 5/8'' x 8 3/4".

QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Desktop
- Update your QuickBooks Desktop file to the latest release. Be sure to select the Reset Update checkbox.
IMPORTANT: you must be on the latest release for your 1099s to print correctly. - Create your 1099s in QuickBooks.
- In the Choose a filing method window, select the Print 1099-NEC or Print 1099-MISC button.
- Specify the date range for the forms then choose OK.
- Select all vendors you wish to print 1099s for.
- Select the Print 1099 button. Select Print 1096s instead, if printing form 1096.
- Confirm your printer settings then select Print.
QuickBooks Desktop for Mac
- Update you or QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to the latest release.
IMPORTANT: you must be on the latest release for your 1099s to print correctly. - Create your 1099s in QuickBooks.
- In the Choose a filing method window, select the Print 1099-NECs or Print 1099-MISCs button.
- Specify the date range for the forms then select all vendors you wish to print 1099s.
- Select the Print 1099 button. Select Print 1096s instead, if printing form 1096.
- Confirm your printer settings then select Print.
Step 3: Provide copies to your contractors.
1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms must be postmarked to contractors by January 31.
