With in QuickBooks Self Employed it is not possible send an estimate to a customer in the current version. This could change with enhancements which are made to the product you can also provide feedback for new features for the product on this link here.

Hello there, geoffcollins.
QuickBooks Online has a feature where you can create a quote/estimate. This is used when you'll give you customers a quote, bid or proposal.
To set up estimates in QuickBooks Online, kindly see this article: Set Up and Use Estimates and Quotes.

Hi, I have posted a suggestion to add a quotes feature to quickbooks self-employed. Have a search on the feedback forum under the ‘estimates’ category and vote for the suggestion. With any luck QB SE will add it!

How can you not have a option to write a quote instead of an invoice! Such a massive flaw in the program. How can you invoice people when you’re not able to send a quote. Makes no sense what so ever. I’ve signed up for 3 months With the self employed program because of the small discount instead of not making the most of a free one month trial. Not happy

Hi there, TroyWoodland.
I know how important to have a quote in QuickBooks Self-Employed. However, this feature is unavailable for the QBSE version. You'll want to upgrade to QuickBooks Online version wherein you can create a quote for your customers. Creating a quote is pretty easy. Here's how:
- Select + New.
- Under Customers, select Estimate.
- Select a Customer. Choose a status on the drop-down under the customer's name (optional).
- Verify the Estimate Date, then enter the Expiration Date (optional).
- Enter the Product/Service, Description, Qty, Rate, Amount, VAT, Message (optional), and Discount (optional).
- Select Save and close.
You can learn more information about setting up and using estimates/quotes in this article: Set up and use estimates.

Hi Kev, an estimate is a non-posting transaction and is the equivalent of a quote in QuickBooks Online - if you're needing this to appear specifically as 'Quote' to the client, you can edit the details on the default estimate form by selecting the Cog > Custom form styles > New style > Estimate > Content > Form > See 'form names' field.
