Hey there, @overlookproduce,

Welcome and thanks for joining the Community. I'm here to help with your Finance Charges in QuickBooks Desktop.

Before you start assessing finance charges, please make sure your QuickBooks Desktop software is on its current release. Updating your file gives you access to the latest features and fixes, improves software performance and stability.

Once updated, try applying the finance charge and see if it works this time. You can do that by going to the Customers menu, then selecting Assess Finance Charges.

However, if you're still getting the same behavior, try running the Verify and Rebuild Utility to fix data issues within the company file. Here's how:

To run the Rebuild utility:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Choose Rebuild Data.

To run the Verify utility:

  1. From the File menu, click on Utilities.
  2. Hit Verify Data.

In case you need a reference about finance charges, you can check this article: Assess Finance Charges

Please update me on the outcome. I'm just a click away if I can be of additional assistance. Best regards!
