Are you encountering this restriction specifically when attempting to post or record transactions, such as selecting the account from a dropdown menu on a form?

If the account is restricted or unavailable for selection, it may be locked in your Chart of Accounts to maintain structural integrity and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

You can unlock the account so it becomes available for posting transactions again. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online as the primary admin.
  2. Go to All apps, then select the  Chart of accounts under Accounting.
  3. Locate the locked bank account in your list.
  4. Click the dropdown arrow under the Action column and choose Edit.
  5. Select the Unlock button to restore posting access.
  6. Hit Save.

Once unlocked, the account will reappear in transaction dropdown menus and forms for you and your team.
