Question

Is there a report that I can access that lists all the different categories of expenses with the total listed for each like an annual financial statement would show?

I'm delighted to walk you through the steps on how to find the expense report you need in Quickbooks Online, @Ddkohl12.

You'll need a detail report for this to see the transactions as well as the accounts associated with it. Also there are several reports to pull up like the Transaction List by Supplier or Purchases by Supplier Detail reports. I will share the steps to help you customize the report to filter the details.

Here's how to open the reports:

  1. Go to the Reports menu, then find Transaction List by Supplier or Purchases by Supplier Detail.
  2. On the report, click the Customize option.
  3. Under Rows/Columns, click Change columns.
  4. Mark the Account box.
  5. Next, go to the Filter menu. For the Transaction Type, choose the expense transactions you want to see.
  6. Update or add other filters, then click Run report.
