Question

Hi -so I am needed to know how to safely merge two bank accounts into one live feed. I've excluded duplicate trans, one acc is sitting in COA, the other is live?

The old account was Cashplus and seems to have been missing several chunks of transactions. This bank was taken over from Zempler. I've had to manually upload all the Zempler transactions back from the opening of the main account (then Cashplus) through to now. I've cross-referenced all transactions to exclude any duplicates. I really just want to end up with one (Zempler) live feed with all the transactions in and then leave the old Cashplus info sitting in Chart of Accounts or delete it, after saving. Can anyone talk me through it, please? It's taken so long to get to this point,t I don't want to ruin it all now. Thanks in advance

Great job cross-referencing those transactions and excluding the duplicates. Before merging, if both accounts have an Opening Balance Equity transaction, you'll have to delete the one with the more recent date. The older entry will automatically become the opening balance for the merged account. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Gear icon, then click Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account with the most recent opening balance.
  3.  Click Account history under Action.
  4. Click transaction that you want to delete, then select Delete.

Next, save all reconciliation reports for both accounts for your records. Keep in mind that the account being merged will lose its reconciliation history after the process. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings and click Reconcile.
  2. Choose the Account you want to save the report for.
  3. From the Report period dropdown, select the reconcile dates you need.
  4. Select View report, click the print icon in the upper-right corner.

Finally, you can now merge the old Cashplus account into the live Zimpler account. Here’s how:

  1. Find the Cashplus account, click the dropdown arrow, and select Edit.
  2. Make sure to note the Account name, Account type, and Detail type. All of these should be identical between the accounts you wish to merge.
  3. If done, click Save. A prompt will appear; select Yes, merge accounts to confirm.
