Question

A CC payment does not show in categorized, review or excluded, but it's in CC register (no "C", "R" or green boxes are listed in the column on the right, either). Help!

Detail: (bare with me, I'm a pet photographer, not an accountant :( ) My bank register has a categorized payment to my amex. My amex has a payment listed 1 day prior, but it has no "C", "R" or green squares in the column on the right of the register (no column header to refer to). It's just blank. I've tried changing it to "C" to see if that made it show up for a match, but it doesn't. If I un-categroize the payment in my bank account so that it shows up for review and then I click "find match" - nothing. So, I was hopeful to find the amex payment in the amex review tab but it's not there, either. The amex payment does not show in categorized, review or excluded, but it's in the register. If I uncategorize a different payment in amex so that it shows up for review, when I click "find match" it gives me 4 choices - the correct one and the other 3 that would match the 3 amex transactions in the register, but those transactions won't show for review to be matched. Wow - that's confusing. I hope I said it all right. Can someone help me?

Say no more, @JenPhoto. I'm here to help you get those payment transactions rolling right away.

You'll want to update your Amex account manually to refresh your Bank Feed Center. This way, the payment transaction will show in the For review tab. Here's how to manually update your account.

  1. In the Bank Feed Center, highlight your Amex account.
  2. Click Update. See image below.

With these steps, new transactions will be posted in your For review tab. Look for the payment transaction that you'll want to match from the transaction that's in your register by selecting Find match.

You can learn more about updating account at this link: What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download.

I'll also share with you this article about manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online which I'm sure you'll find helpful. In this article you'll learn how to download transactions from your bank and then manually import them into QuickBooks.
