All of the items listed in the Budget window are the list of accounts in your Chart of Accounts. If you wanted to add a new one to the list, we can simply go back to your Chart of Accounts and create it.
Let me show you how:
Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
Click the New button.
Select the account in the Account Type drop-down list.
Choose the detail type in the Detail Type drop-down arrow.
Enter the name of the account and add a description if necessary.
Fill out the rest of the information, then select Save and Close.
Also, I recommend reaching out to your accountant for further advice when creating a new account. This way, they can guide you on what details you should select when creating a new one.
In addition, there are special budget reports that can help you keep of track your budget goals. Just follow these steps:
Click the Gear icon and select Budgeting.
Find your budget on the list.
Select the Action drop-down list and then click the Run Budget Overview report or Run Budgets vs. Actuals report.
The Budget Overview report summarizes budgets by account. The Budgets vs. Actuals report summarizes accounts alongside your actual account totals. It also shows how much you're under or over budget.
That's it! Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to be of assistance. Wishing you and your business continued success in all that you do.
