Greetings, @lindak1119.

Thank you for posting in the Community, I'd be happy to help share some information about the templates used for printing checks.

Yes, you're correct. Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) lets you print using the voucher and standard check types or templates. We want to make sure that it's compatible with the checks setup, designed for the system.

You may also check out these article for reference, as well as screenshots and video tutorial in printing checks:

We want to hear your suggestions on how we can improve QBO. You can introduce this idea to our Product Development team which is then considered for inclusion in future product updates. Please click the Gear icon and select Feedback to let them know.

If you need to reach out for more help, our phone agents will be able to help you get to a resolution quickly.

Here's how:

  1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. At the top right, select your QuickBooks version.
  3. Select a topic.
  4. Click on the Get Phone Number or Start a Message button.

That should do it. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other questions about printing checks. I'd be happy to help you out. Have a great day!

is there any way to use blank check stock to create printed checks?

Hey there, @Wilson Casket.

Thanks for following the thread.

There are 3rd party apps that you can check on that can prefill the information on the check stock for you. You can find a 3rd party at https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. If you're unable to find a 3rd party app that suits exactly what you're looking for, then you can always order check stocks from within QuickBooks Online. I've included the steps below to do this.

1. Open the Gear icon.

2. Choose Order Checks.

3. It will open a webpage for you to choose a package that best suits you.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I will be here to help you every step of the way. You can always reach out to us here in the Community anytime you need a helping hand in getting back to business. Take care!

I have been struggling and working with QB technicians but am unable to adjust the check template to accommodate my quickbooks approved checks.  The printing is considerably lower than the lines it should print to.  Very frustrated

Thanks for joining this thread, sharon-americanp.

If you're subscribed to the Enhanced payroll plan, you can fix printing alignment for preprinted checks by setting up your preferences and check alignment.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear (⚙️) icon, then go to Payroll Settings.
  2. In your Preferences section, choose Paycheck Printing.
  3. Click Preprinted QuickBooks-compatible voucher check stock.
  4. Pick Print 1 stub or Print 2 stubs and press OK.
  5. Hit Open Alignment Window, then print a sample check.
  6. Follow the presented instructions. Afterwards, close your Open Alignment window.
  7. Click Align Checks, then print the PDF file.
  8. Follow your presented instructions and enter the letter and number that fits best.
  9. Select Update Settings, then OK.

You'll be able to find detailed information about fixing check alignment for printing in our Fix print alignment for preprinted checks article. This resource also goes over what to do if you're using a Full Service or Intuit Online Payroll subscription.

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!

I worked with a QB technician.  That process would not change the template, either,
