Question

Business Location tracking for bill payments

I've recently added 2 Business locations and updated all my transactions since inception.

P&L is perfect.  However, Balance sheet is not updating for Bill Payments already made. I read that the Bill payment will match the invoice (bill) location, but the bill payments "location" are blank and I cannot edit that field..

How do I re-fresh or update the historical Bill Payments location?

Thank you

I'm sad to hear that you're experiencing an issue with your Balance Sheet not updating for Bill Payments that were made in the past, @LauraC3.

I understand the importance of accurate financial records, and I'm here to provide insights on this matter.

In QuickBooks Online, assigning a location to a bill payment is unavailable. Currently, it can only be assigned to a bill. Instead of the balance sheet, we can generate a Transaction Detail by Account report. Then, we can customize this report by specific accounts and transaction types.

  1. In your QBO account, let's proceed to the Reports menu.
  2. In the search field, look for Transaction Detail by Account report.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Select the report date.
  5. Navigate to the Filter section.
  6. Put a check mark to Account and choose specific accounts related to Balance Sheet, and click Transaction Type then choose Bill Payment.
  7. Lastly, click Run Report

Additionally, I'll be sharing the following articles to help manage and personalize your reports in QBO:
