Hello, and welcome to the Community, vancoppenhagen.
If a charge was reversed, the money will be sent back to the card or bank account that was used to make the payment. For both types of transactions, it can take up to seven business days for the funds to show up in the client's account.
To fix this, you'll want to get in touch with your customer and make them aware of what's occurred. This way they can keep an eye out for the funds being returned to them and work out a transaction with you, so that you're paid for what they owe you.
Once your customer is ready to do the new payment, you can follow the steps in this article to process it in QuickBooks Desktop: Take and process payments in QBDT
I also did some research into what you mentioned caused this and was able to find that we do have a known issue with QuickBooks suddenly crashing when working on transactions, such as invoices or sales orders. This can be caused by something with the computer itself or by how the product interacts with your operating system.
I'd initially recommend is making sure that you've updated to the latest release to ensure that you have all of the necessary components for your books to function properly. If you encounter the same problem after updating, you can contact us to get in touch with a specialist that can help you to further troubleshoot why this might be occurring. It's recommended to keep a record of what you were working on prior to the program crashing, as this can help us to better identify what the root cause is.
I'll be here to help if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day!
