Question

Does anyone know how to get expenses from the online Bank Register into the Expenses/Banking pages on quickbooks?

Was told how to do it manually but there are thousands of expenses I would need to put in for 2019. What can I do to get them over easily from the Bank Register thru quickbooks?

Good day to you, @bryan28.

You can manually upload those expenses in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Once done, add them to your bank register by clicking the Add link in the For review tab. This way, the expense will show on your bank register and the Expense page. Let me guide you how:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card’s website and follow the instruction on how to download the transactions (ensure to pick the date range of the transactions to avoid duplication).
  2. Ensure the file downloaded is supported in QBO.
    • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
    • QuickBooks Online (QBO)
    • Quicken (QFX)
  3. Then go to the Banking or Transactions menu in your QBO home screen.
  4. Select the Banking tab and choose the bank account you want to upload the transactions into.
  5. Click the Update drop-down menu and select File upload.

You can also refer to this article for the complete details: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once done, categorize and add those transactions to your bank register. For guidance, check out this article for reference: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can always get back to me if you have other follow-up questions about managing your expenses in QBO. I’d be more than happy to help you anytime. Keep safe!
