Hi Im configureing Quickbooks Desktop Pro. Where do I add my products and their costs?

Hello there, @geraldww-gmail-c.

 

Let me walk you through the steps on how to add a product and cost.

 

If you're trying to add an inventory item, you can turn on first the Inventory and purchase orders are active feature in the company preferences. You can follow these steps on how:

 

  1. Go to the Edit menu.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Select the Items & Inventory tab.
  4. Click Company Preferences.
  5. Put a checkmark in the Inventory and purchase orders are active box.
  6. Hit Ok to save.

 

Once done, you can now create the product and cost in your QuickBooks Desktop account. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the List menu, then Item List.
  2. Go to the Item dropdown arrow from the item list toolbar.
  3. Select New.
  4. Choose the item type in the Type field.
  5. Enter the product name.
  6. Put a checkmark on the Subitem of, and select the item. (Optional)
  7. Click the Enable button to use the unit of measure. Refer to this article for more detailed information.
  8. Select the This service is used in assemblies or is performed by a subcontractor or partner box if the item is performed by your subcontractor. (Optional)
  9. Include the description.
  10. Enter the cost in the Rate field.
  11. Choose the Account of the item.
  12. Click OK.
