How do I correct an expense item that has doubled itself for 4 months when I manually uploaded expenses that were not paid with QB?

Most users get duplicates after adding uploaded transactions to QuickBooks, ctthibodeau. This is not new to us, and I can guide you to correct your records.

First. We'll talk about the normal process, so you can prevent this from happening in the future.

If you've already recorded the expense transactions in QuickBooks, you would just want to match them with the uploaded transactions. If they are not in QuickBooks yet, you would want to add them. Please check out the article about adding and matching transactions for more details.

Second. To correct your records, you can delete the duplicate entries.

  1. From the Lists menu, choose Chart of accounts.
  2. Double-click your bank register to see the list of transactions.
  3. Open the duplicates and delete them.

You might want to check about bank reconciliation.

Please let me know if you have other questions with your duplicate entries. Have a good day!
