Click on the Customize button on the upper right. In the Rows/Columns section, click on the Show Grid drop-down arrow and select Accounts vs.Totals. Is it possible to generate a report with a month of actual vs. YTD, compared to ANNUAL budget, not monthly budget? We operate on a cash basis and don't break our budget out by month.

I can route you to the right direction about generating the Budget Report showing the mentioned date range.

The option to run the report showing the month of actual vs. YTD and then compare it to the annual is unavailable at this time.

We're always looking for ways to improve QBO and have various improvements to streamline the customizing process. Ideas shared on this page are being considered for future enhancements.

You'll find what's new added to the product by visiting the QBO Blog site. I will also update this post once there's progress about this.

As a workaround, you can export the report to Excel and tailor it from there. I’ll guide you through the steps.

On the Budge vs. Actuals page, click on the Export icon in the upper right hand.
From the drop-down, choose Export to Excel.

For additional resources, I’m also adding links with detailed information about exporting and customizing reports.

This information should help you move forward. Keep me posted on things go after following these steps. I’ll be right here to assist further.

We also need this functionality. Ability to run a monthly financial statement and also see the YTD actuals vs Budget. I'm amazed that this does not exist in QB online - this seems like a basic financial statement that even the simplest accounting systems offer. Is anyone at Intuit actually working on this?

Select the Gear icon at the top.
Click Feedback.

Writing in 2022: Still looking for ability to run a report that has YTD total (not monthly) vs. Annual Budget numbers. This is something that EVERY small business/charity is looking to have easy access to. Yes we all know how to make the report in excel, but it is beyond pathetic that the QBO accounting software doesn't permit such an easy report to be run. It's even worse that this is something that customers have clearly been requesting for years, but QBO just choses to ignore them. Time to look at alternatives to QBO, of which I understand there are a number!
