How do I set up an invoice number range? I want quickbooks to generate the number starting by a specific number range automatically.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, only4keepers.

QuickBooks automatically assigns numbers to your invoices in numerical order. However, you also have the option to turn on Custom transaction numbers to set your own number first so QuickBooks will automatically follow the sequence you set up. Let me provide the steps to achieve this process.

I recommend going to the Sales form content section so you can set the mentioned option above. This adds an Invoice number field where you can enter your own number preference.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner and select Account and settings.
  2. Choose the Sales tab.
  3. In Sales form content, click the pencil icon ✎.
  4. Turn Custom transaction numbers on.
  5. Click Save and Done.

After that, open the Invoice page and you will see an Invoice no. box on the right side. Then, enter the custom number sequence you want to use for your forms. The sequence you set here applies to all sales forms.

Lastly, refer to this article to see details on how the Sales page helps you to view the status of all of your sales entries: View sales transactions.

Don't hesitate to comment below if you have further concerns about managing sales numbers in QuickBooks. I've got your back as always. Have a great day, only4keepers.
