Question

I have a receipt that I want to attach to a transaction but it says I don’t have one that matches, even thought it went through my bank

Hello there, connietatro,

The transaction may have not been downloaded yet to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). That's why the receipt isn't matching with the transaction in the system.

You can review and double-check if all the latest entries are posted to your bank. QBSE will only download transactions once cleared from your financial institution. Once verified, go back to the Transaction tab in QuickBooks and manually compare them first before attaching the receipt.

If you're still not matching them, you can create a new transaction from a receipt. This is to record the entry in the system.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transaction menu and select Add Transaction.
  2. Enter the amount and a brief description.
  3. Browse the Select a category menu and choose the best option to organize your transaction.
  4. When you’re ready, select Save.

You can also check out the Enter receipts on your QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app article to learn how to attach a receipt to a transaction.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need. I'm always around to help you out.
