Question

I keep having the invoices I email out bounce back to the main email address but go through in the (cc) & (bcc), even if they are the same. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello there, @kellycgrace.

There are two main reasons invoice emails bounce back to the main email address:

  • the email address entered is incorrect
  • there was a temporary issue with the recipients' email server

Let's perform troubleshooting steps to fix this. To begin, you'll have to configure your email setup. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Company on the left panel.
  4. Click the Pencil icon for Contact info.
  5. Clear the Company email address field and enter the desired address, even if it shows as the correct one. Make sure not to use any extra characters or spaces before, within, or after the address, you enter.
  6. Click Save and Done.

Then, send yourself a test transaction to test it. If you’re getting the same result, you’ll have to use another email address that has a different domain. If that doesn't work, I recommend contacting an IT professional to add QuickBooks Online mail server hostnames and IP addresses to your outgoing mail servers.

Check out this article that lists the Host Name and IP Address: Solution when Customers aren't receiving emails.

Also, you may want to consider emailing multiple invoices to save you time instead of doing it one at a time.

Additionally,  I've included an article that will guide in recording your invoice payments from your customers. This way, you can keep your books accurate.
