Question

I mistakenly set the date of an invoice to be 07/31/2019 instead of 07/31/2020. Now those invoices aren't showing up. What should I do?

Hi there, verrificllc.

I can help you in finding the invoice.

Using the Search function, finding transactions in QuickBooks Online becomes quick and easy. If you've just created the invoice today, you can go to the Magnifying Glass icon then locate the invoice in the Recent Transactions section. You may also enter the date, amount, or transaction number you’re looking for in the search bar.

If it does not appear on the results list, let's use the Advanced Search feature. I'll show you how:

  1. Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
  2. Select Advanced Search.
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose Invoices.
  4. Adjust the filters to find the type of data you want.
  5. Select Add Filter.
  6. Locate the transaction.

Alternatively, you can go to the All sales tab then filter the transactions. Here's how to do it:

  1. Select Sales from the sidebar menu.
  2. Click the All sales tab, then select Filter.
  3. Choose Invoices from the Type drop-down menu.
  4. Set the date to 07/31/2019, then select the appropriate customer.
  5. Hit Apply, then locate and click the invoice to open it.
  6. Make the necessary adjustments.
  7. Select Save and close then choose Yes to confirm the changes.

With QuickBooks Online, you can also personalize the invoices so your customers will recognize your brand.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions. Assistance is just a post away.
