Question

I've been asked to verify my bank account to pay taxes but I paid them yesterday on my own. If I verify my bank account will it debit the amount again?

Yes. The system will auto-debit the amount, mistimaisey.

If you're using either Payroll Elite, Payroll Premium, or Payroll Core the system will automatically deduct your taxes once you'll turn on the Automate taxes and forms option.

Since you've already paid the taxes yesterday, let's not turn on that option first but, we'll have to manually enter it inside QuickBooks. This way, the system will recognize that you've already paid it outside QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. From the Taxes tab, select Payroll Tax.
  2. Select Enter prior tax history at the lower section.
  3. Filter the date.
  4. Click Add Payment.

Then, when it's time to file and pay the next taxes, we can now turn on the Automate taxes and forms feature. I'll show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, and then select Payroll settings.
  2. Go to the Taxes and forms section, and click the pencil (edit) icon.
  3. Tick Automate taxes and forms.
  4. Click Save.
