We do daily register summaries and create enter them daily as a journal entry.  Our new POS system does not deposit all sales into the same day - how do i match the journal entries to the deposits if the sales are deposited into several transactions?

Hi, Salon. Let me help you track your daily sales accordingly.

Yes, you can split journal entries among various deposits as long as they have the same date. Since your POS system does not deposit all sales on the same day, make separate journal entries for each deposit. In each entry, document the sales transactions that align with the respective deposits. You may also use a unique identifier like a deposit reference number or transaction ID from your POS system in the Description field. This makes it simpler to match journal entries with their respective deposits later.

On top of that, please remember to consult with your accountant or financial advisor for specific guidance tailored to your business's needs and accounting practices.

When you're ready to match your records, switch to the Banking page, then start your task.

  1. Select your bank, then click on For review.
  2. Look for the deposit, then select the journal to Match.
  3. You can also click on Find other matches to pick other possible transactions.

You may also run through the details from this link for more tips about the process: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, I'm also adding this material to find out how to record your total daily sales in QuickBooks Online using a single sales receipt: Record your total daily sales in QuickBooks Online.
