Is there a report that will give you the number of Bills per month by date?

It's my priority for you to run the report you need in QuickBooks Desktop, tlbarton.

We can run the Transaction List by Vendor report and customize it to show the Billed Date, Quantity, and all the bills on a monthly period. Let me show you how:

1. Go to Reports on the top menu.
2. Choose Vendors & Payables.
3. Select Transaction List by Vendor. 
4. Tap Customize Report button.
5. Choose Display.
6. In the Columns field, enter Billed Date and Qty
7. Go to Filters and enter Transaction Type in the search field.
8. Choose Bill in the Transaction Type field.
9. Press OK and OK. 
10. In the Dates field, choose Month-to-Date period. 

If you need to add and modify columns to come up with the report data you need, just click the Excel button. then, choose Create New Worksheet to export the report. This way, you do not have to go through the customization process again.

Unfortunately QB doesn't really have reports that will show you the counts of transactions. However, if you create a report that lists the transactions, one row per transaction, then you can export it to Excel in order to add formulas to arrive at those counts.
