Welcome to the Community. I appreciate you asking your question about tagging journal entries in your QuickBooks Online account.
Currently, tagging journal entries in QBO isn't possible. However, you can tag particular transactions such as invoices, expenses, and bills.
I can see how important this feature is for your business. With that being said, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider this in the near future.
You can keep an eye out on our QB Blog site to stay up-to-date with what's new in the product.
This should answer your question. Feel free to come back if you have any other concerns. Have a great day!
I need to allocate all my expenses and income to a particular group, not being able to tag a journal entry will not allow me to get an accurate recording of a property sale.
Yes, we were unable to use tags on Journal entries. The tagging feature in QuickBooks Online is primarily designed for tracking transactions by customer, vendor, or project. However, you can still indirectly track locations using classes or custom fields in QuickBooks Online. These features allow you to categorize transactions based on different criteria, including location. You can set up classes or custom fields to represent different locations.
Before you can set up and assign different locations and classes, you'll need to turn on this feature in your QuickBooks Online Account. Please know that this feature is only available in QuickBooks Online Advanced.
On the Gear icon, click Accounts and Settings.
Click on Advanced and choose Categories.
Tick Track classes and Track locations.
Click on Save. Then Done.

While I don't have specific information about future updates or release dates, I can assure you that the feedback and requests are valuable to us. We are constantly striving to improve our product based on customer feedback and needs.
With that, I encourage you to provide feedback regarding the desire for a tagging feature in journal entries.
