Question

Is there a way to control the order in which custom fields appear on the invoice entry screen for more efficient data entry?

Controlling the order of custom fields is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online, @david161.

The online version of QuickBooks can only create, add, and edit custom fields to the forms.

I’ll make sure to pass this to our managerial team so they can submit this feedback to our developers. In the meantime, you can visit our blog site for news. This way, you'll be updated on what products, services, and technology like apps are coming in the future.

In case you want to add, QBO allows three fields. And it does appear on all of your sales forms too. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click Account and Settings, then select Sales.
  3. Go to the Sales form content section.
  4. Hit the pencil icon to edit.
  5. Enter a name into each dialogue box.
  6. Press Save then Done.

For more information on how to enhance fields, please check this link: https://developer.intuit.com/app/developer/qbo/docs/develop/tutorials/create-custom-fields#enable-custom-fields.

You can also upload and generate your own design, just ensure to enable your Import style feature under QuickBooks labs. Then visit this article for import custom form styles process.

Don’t hesitate to get back on this page if you have other questions. I’ll be around to help. Have a good day.
