It's nice to see you here, @userrussellbuzbee,

If the invoices are automatically getting marked as paid, I suggest checking your settings and see if the system is automatically applying credits to your sales.

Here's how to check on that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Press the Advanced tab.
  4. Search for the Automation section, then click on it.
  5. Ensure the Automatically apply credits option is disabled.
  6. Click on Save, then Done.

If that isn't enabled, let's try some browser troubleshooting, by opening a private window. Let's check if this is a caching problem that's causing the program to function poorly.

Unexpected issues in QuickBooks are mostly affected by the data accumulated in the cache. The regular browser will constantly save data by overwriting itself, but it will not remove any history automatically.

The incognito mode, on the other hand,  does not save any history, which makes it a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

If it works, clear the browser's cache to resolve regular browsing issues especially in QBO.

Kindly post again for updates after trying out the steps. Tag me in your reply so I'll get notified with your response. Have a good day!

This is a problem with QuickBooks online on an iPad and iPhone. No computer.

I don’t have those options under settings or gear.

Thanks for the clarification and for giving it a try, userrussellbuzbee.

I appreciate you for attaching a screenshot. I'm here to make sure your new invoices will stop getting marked as paid automatically in QuickBooks Online.

The steps outlined by my peer above are available in the browser. Since you're using iPad, I'd recommend logging in to your QuickBooks Online account through the browser. This way, we can check if the Automatically apply credit is turned on. You can follow the instructions overhead.

If that isn't enabled, let's get your mobile app up and running by resetting the application. This is the same as clearing the cache from your web browser.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Help and Feedback
  3. Click Reset App Data or Refresh Data and tap OK.

      4. Then create a sample invoice to check if it's already performing well.

However, if the issue persists, let's uninstall the app. Simply touch and hold the app, then click the Delete app button. Nothing to worry about uninstalling the app because it won't delete the transactions and subscription you have. Once done, you can now reinstall the app.

Additionally, you have an option to customize your invoice template and change sales from delivery method in your iOS. For more details, click this page: Customize invoices on the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Feel easy to visit these articles and video tutorials about handling your account settings, invoices, sales receipts, and the different features supported on mobile devices.

Don't hesitate to tag my name if you have more questions about your invoices. I'm always around to help. Keep safe.

It was happening to me but only on invoices that had a zero balance owing. I do this sometimes while tracking. Hope this helps!
