P&L - Current Month VS Last Year Month AND YTD VS Last YTD

I am looking to create a Profit and Loss statement  with the following columns:

Current Month     vs     Same Month Prior Year      % Change            Current YTD      vs      Prior YTD        % Change

   Sept 2026                         Sept 2025                                              Jan-Sept 2026          Jan-Sept 2025

With % change would be great but not necessary.

Native Profit and Loss report doesn’t allow combining a single-month comparison alongside a Year-to-Date (YTD) comparison in the exact same view. However, you can run the Profit and Loss Comparison report and view them separately by duplicating the tab.

Here's how to set it up for current month vs. same month in the prior year:

  1. Go to the Reports menu, then search Profit and Loss Comparison.
  2. Set the Report period to your specific month (e.g., September 2026, or select from the dropdown)).
  3. In the Compare to dropdown, select Custom period (CP) and enter the correct dates in the From and To fields.
  4. Within the same dropdown, check the % change option.

For current YTD vs. prior YTD:

  1. Run the same report again, this time changing the Report Period to This year to date.
  2. In the Compare to dropdown, choose Previous year-to-date (PY YTD).
  3. Then, add % change.

If you're using QuickBooks Online Advanced, Spreadsheet Sync allows you to pull live, refreshable data to Excel. The best workflow to achieve your specific column setup involves pulling the source data onto separate sheets, consolidating them on a master tab, and mapping them using Excel Formulas.
