QB for desktop: profit and loss detail report

I have modified the P&L detail report to include columns for payment method and for check #.

Check # shows up perfectly for each transaction as appropriate.

Payment method remains blank.  I have confirmed that there is a payment method for each transaction.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

You’re most welcome, @mottconcord.

Let me share additional information on why the payment method remains blank when running the Profit and Loss Detail report in QuickBooks Desktop.

Profit and Loss report composes of invoices that represent income. When you create an invoice, there’s no option for payment method unless you received a payment. The fields showing on an invoice are the same options that reflect on the report.

However, you can run a Transaction List by Customer that includes payment method in the column. Let me help guide you on how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Customers & Receivables.
  3. Select the Transaction List by Customer.
  4. Customize the dates of the report.
  5. Click on Customize report to customize the transaction type to Payment.
  6. Go to the Filter column.
  7. Look for Transaction Type.
  8. Select Payment.
  9. Click OK.
