Unable to track materials purchased by customer

I'm here to help you track your materials purchase by your customer in QuickBooks Desktop. To begin, we need to add an item that will represent the materials in QuickBooks. I'll show you how:

1. Open your QuickBooks, then go to the Lists menu.
2. From the Lists menu, select Item List.
3. On the Item List window, select Item at the very bottom, then choose New.
4. Choose the type of item you want to create.
5. Fill in the item fields.
6. Once done, click the OK button.

Take note that in the invoice, just enter zero to the rate and cost of the item.
