Question

We received a Loan of $207,000 but only received $150,000 so $57,000 is the payback I did not enter it as $207,000 in QBO i only did the $150,000 how do i correct this?

Please note this loan was done in 2019 and I just figured out I did it wrong. Payments have been made to the loan

To correct the record of the loan received, you can create a deposit and use a Liability account. Or, create a journal entry to adjust your books.

 

That said, I recommend checking with your accountant for guidance on what's the best process for you in this kind of situation. Since each business has a unique structure, and it's the same with the accounts used when tracking transactions.
