Question

When migrating to QB Desktop to QB Online did I lose all my departments (Classes)? This is how my budget has been set up for the past 20 years in QB.

Thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community for this migration concern, Sarah.

During the conversion, classes are also migrated. Try to check your preferences if the class feature in QuickBooks Online is enabled. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Advanced, then select the Categories section to edit.
  3. Click the slider or box for Track classes.
  4. Check Warn me when a transaction isn't assigned a class. This is optional, but it's good to turn on, so when you look at reports, you know everything got classified.
  5. Under Assign classes, select One to entire transaction or One to each row in transaction.*
  6. Press Save, then Done.

Once done, run the budget report with classes. Also, check out the following links to learn more about the migration process and what data gets converted:

I have gone through these steps, both with a Representative Call and alone but it has not taken care of the issue.  Is there another possibility?
