You can set this up by manually creating a 'Credit Card Surcharge' line item on your invoices. Here's how:

  1. Go to All apps, then select Sales & Get Paid.
  2. Choose Products and services.
  3. Click New product/service, then select Service.
  4. Name both the Name and Description to 'Credit Card Surcharge'. For the Income account, create a new 'Other income' account or use whichever your accountant prefers — the main thing is that it posts to income.
  5. Hit Save and close.

Once that's set up, add it to any invoice by selecting 'Credit Card Surcharge' in the Product/service column, then edit the Rate or Amount to your chosen surcharge percentage. You can also use the Note to customer box on the invoice to give clients a heads-up that a surcharge applies if they pay by credit card.

Note: QuickBooks' native surcharging feature is currently rolled out only in certain regions like the US, so if you don't see that option with your QuickBooks Payments account, the manual method above is your best workaround.
