Question

After Square Connect was installed Sept 9 my PST and GST are not coming through to QBO correctly What do I do to fix it

A sale in Square is $50 plus $3.50 (7%) PST and $2.50 (5%) GST In QBO it is coming through as $6.00 GST (5%) the amount of tax $6.00 is correct but the allocation in QBO is incorrect. How do I map the taxes so they sync correctly. (My industry uses 4 taxes 2 different GST rates and 2 different PST rates) ALl 4 are set in Square and QBO but they are not mapping or syncing correctly

To fix the GST and PST allocation issue, update the Square tax mapping so each Square tax rate matches the correct QuickBooks Online Sales Tax Agency rate.

To update the mapping:

  1. Open the Sales Tax Mapping settings in Square Connect.
  2. Change the option from Default Single Tax Code to Match Square Tax Rates or Map Square Taxes to QBO Rates.
  3. Map each Square tax rate (GST and PST rates) to the corresponding QuickBooks Online sales tax rate.

Also, verify that your QuickBooks Online tax codes are active. Disabled tax codes can cause taxable transactions to map incorrectly or combine multiple tax rates into a single tax code.

After updating the mapping, review new Square transactions syncing to QuickBooks Online to confirm the taxes are allocated correctly.
