My mission is to allow a customized report template to be used in other QB company files. Supposedly this is possible by following the directions listed below: QuickBooks offers the option to export and import report templates. This feature is useful for accountants who want to save time by having several clients use the same report template. Only the format and filter settings are stored with report templates. If you create a report template and then have several clients use it, when the client imports it, the desired report is generated with the current client’s data, not the data it was created with. You can export and import a single report or a group of reports only from the Memorized Report List. Thus, you must first memorize any reports that you want to export. To export a report or report group template, follow these steps: 1. From the menu bar, select Reports, Memorized Reports, Memorized Report List. 2. In the Memorized Report drop-down list, select Export Template. 3. The Specify File Name dialog box displays, enabling you to select a location to store the template (.QBR extension). 4. Attach the stored report template or report group to an email, or copy it to a removable storage device, such as a USB drive, to share with other QuickBooks data files. However, when I am trying to perform step 2. “Export Template” is not an option – only exporting to Excel or to creating a comma separated values (.csv) file is available. Below are my only options. “Export Template” does not appear. Is this not available for QB Pro 2016? Sharing the Template into “Contributed” report has also proven to be impossible unless I am missing a way to actually search the Contributed reports in a meaningful manner. I have customized the report title but it is lost in the 5000+ reports listed. Using the Search option hasn’t worked either. Any other suggestions on how to copy a customized Memorized report template from one QB company to another in QB Pro 2016? Thank you for your help! I’m here to share some information about exporting report templates in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). QBW is your actual working company file and currently it's not possible to export this file type to a report. With QBDT, you can export Memorized reports as Excel or save it as PDF file. Here's how: Export to Excel: 1. Open the memorize report. 2. Click the Excel drop-down and select Create New Worksheet or Update Existing Worksheet. 3. Choose what you’d like to do with the report in the Send Report to Excel window. 4. Select the Advanced button to see other available options, then OK. 5. Hit the Export button and QuickBooks will open MS Excel. You may edit your data as needed. For more details, check out this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Import-or-export-MS-Excel-files/m-p/203724. To save as PDF file: 1. Open the memorize report. 2. Click the Print drop-down and select Save As PDF. 3. Follow the prompt to save it on your desktop. That should get you pointed in the right direction. If you have additional questions working on the program, feel free to reach out to me. I’ll be here to help. Wishing you the best! ________________________________________ QuickBooks Community sent this message to [email address removed]. You are receiving this email because you were @mentioned. When I try to export a customized (memorized) report, there isn't a "Export Template" option. Exporting to Excel is an option but there isn't an option in the QBW format as described on other online help forums. How can export customized/memorized report templates in QB Pro 2016?
