Step 5: Configure network and server settings

Similarities to QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier

has the same look and feel and the same features as your previous version of QuickBooks, so you'll begin working in a familiar environment. Your existing lists (vendors, items, customers, etc.) will transition seamlessly into the new software, but Enterprise does not place the same limits on your data. For example, QuickBooks Pro and Premier only allow storage of 14,500 names (customers, vendors, employees, and other names combined) and 14,500 items. These limits do not apply to Enterprise.

You can also set up more robust security by fine-turning the permissions you grant to each user, with up to 30 simultaneous users now allowed.

Enterprise will run faster and build reports more quickly. In the optional Payroll feature, you can store more information about your employees, and Enterprise makes it easier to track raises, bonuses, and other human resources and related activities.

New Features

We recommend that you take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the extras and new features not available in QuickBooks Pro and Premier, such as:

  • Enhanced Inventory Receiving (separate inventory purchasing from bills and bill payments)
  • Advanced Inventory1
  • Better options when creating custom fields.
  • Ability to assign classes to accounts, items, or names.
  • More Journal Entry options.
  • Custom advanced reporting with ODBC.


Registration allows you to take advantage of the many valuable benefits that come with your software, including access to technical support.

To register:

  • Start .
  • Go to the Help menu and click Register QuickBooks.
  • Click Begin Registration and follow the onscreen instructions.

If web registration isn't successful, you can register Enterprise by phone. The registration line is available from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) seven days a week. Within the U.S., call toll-free 1-800-316-1068. Outside the U.S., call 1-520-901-3220.

Note: If you move your installation from one computer to another, you'll need to re-register Enterprise on the new computer.
