Previously we have covered The Importance of Personalization in Customer Relations, in this post you can read about different ways to gain your customer’s trust. Gaining a customer’s trust is a difficult task but is worth the efforts as it will translate into long term benefits to your business. A loyal customer can help build your brand, market it to their friends and bring business to your doorstep without you spending on marketing or advertising.

Today’s consumer is skeptical and more cautious than ever before, hence the business owner needs to be careful and professional in his/her dealings to ensure his customer is happy and returns to do business.

Here are some suggestions on how you can earn more trust and build a loyal clientele for your business.

1. Assistance is very important.

If a customer walks into your store or approaches you for business, it is very important to volunteer your assistance and expertise to them. Make sure your staff is cordial and attends to the customer in your absence. It takes a few seconds for people to make a first impression about your business and this first impression will affect the decision of whether to do business with you or not. Hence, be courteous and hospitable to your customers at all times.

2. Build trust in your brand.

If your company or the products/services you offer have any certification of excellence or trustworthiness, make sure it is visible to your customers. Apart from these attestations, ask your customers for testimonials and feedback, shows them that you care about your customers and that you are willing to go that extra mile to please them.

3. Make promises only if you can keep them.

Most often, the business owners make promises but they fail to comply, which can upset even the most easily pleased and loyal customers making them distrust you and your business. If you think, the customer’s request is unrealistic or that you will not be able to fulfill it, be direct and politely convey that to the customer.

4. Go digital.

Having a good website and being active on social media is a must, no matter how small or big your business might be. In today’s day and age, it is very important to be up-to-date and tech-savvy, it helps you communicate with your present and potential customers. This helps in building trust and the customers will feel a sense of camaraderie and loyalty towards your business.

5. Stay vigilant at all times.

Building trust does not happen over-night, it requires time and effort to create a healthy, trustworthy relationship with your customers. These efforts may seem simple but they will go a long way to building consumer trust. It is becoming increasing important to please your customers as they can help you grow your business, provide vital feedback and provide the backbone for expansion.
