For many of us Artificial Intelligence or AI still belongs to the world of Science Fiction and Asimov but for Bangalore startup AIndra Systems it is a reality that has the potential to help millions daily. Founded by IIM Bangalore graduate, Adarsh Natarajan and NIT graduate Abhishek Mishra AIndra Systems looks at changing the world through technology. We chat with the founders. An Excerpt from the Interview What made you start your venture? A deep desire to address the problems of society with the aid of technology gave birth to Aindra Systems. To realise this vision, we create products in the domain of Artificial Intelligence and specifically in the area of Computer Vision, an area that we have been fascinated with. Based out of Bangalore, India’s Silicon Valley, we have been fascinated with the world of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision. We believe we are at an inflection point in time, where a lot of converging factors allow for the creation of interesting products that solve interesting problems. Together with a smart team and some fantastic people guiding us, we built a cool start-up that works on solving some high-impact problems with the help of deep technology. We believe now is the time to democratise access to solutions that require deep technology. What has been the key to your business’s success? We are one of the very few startups in India working to create highly innovative and unique solutions. These customer and business centric solutions are radically new to the market and address the existing problems in most efficient ways. What are the major challenges in your line of business? We are creating unique and innovative technologies.  Introduction of these technologies disrupts the convention and hence adoptions are slow. Also, it comes with very long sales cycle. Another big challenge that we have been consistently facing is hiring. Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business? We have a versatile set of mentors and advisors. We are part of “Discovery Hacking Group”, it is a closed group facilitated by serial entrepreneurs. In this group of 6 entrepreneurs, each of them holds responsibility for others’ success and failures. We practice the lean principals and mutually agree upon the actions before taking them in to the operational plans. Adarsh with his experience and innate strategic thinking abilities makes him our strategy guru. Under the guidance of Vijay Simha who is Onebreath Corp’s CEO and a business thinker, we are being nurtured since the very start. Vilgrow has been inspiring, mentoring and incubating us as an innovation-based social enterprise which impacts the lives of India’s poor. They are supporting us to make our idea a reality. Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations? Yes, top 3 technologies that we are using: 1. Customer Relationship Management tool – Podio 2. Code repo – Git 3. Cloud servers – Rackspace What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion? We believe in giving our customers the best product. We help our customers in their day to day operational activities while they are using our Artificial Intelligence based SmartAttendance product. Though, most of our ideas to best fulfill customer expectations come from the customers themselves. We also deliver self-brewed strategies which have helped our customers immensely. For expansion, we are constantly working on identifying the best strategy. So far, in bound marketing, networking, referrals and word of mouth brings majority of the leads. We also believe in synergy and hence partnership has been proven as an effective way to tap into the market. What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur? 1. Ability to identify the strength in your team players 2. Strong relationship building skills 3. Consistent planning for the future (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year) to de-risk uncertainties. This requires foreseeing the challenges with operations, HR, Product delivery cycle and later taking the required steps.
