One of the downsides of being a consumer in a market economy is buyer’s fatigue—which is exactly what you think it is and more. Buyer’s fatigue is the exhaustion that results not just from shopping, but from comparison-shopping. In India especially, people look high and low for the best possible deal. This requires extensive research and haggling, which is enough to tire out even the most avid shopper.

This is where FindYogi comes into the picture. FindYogi is an app created by Naman Sarawagi, erstwhile head of product management at ZipDial. Sarawagi realized that the ecommerce sphere was a-swarm with apps that could help companies solve the logistical issues that plague product delivery, but very few that were aimed at helping consumers choose which product to buy.

This is why he started FindYogi, a product comparison platform that allows consumers to compare a range of electronics items and to choose the one that best suits their budget and requirements. Read the interview below and get acquainted with Naman and FindYogi.

  • What made you start your venture?

I had been working for startups ever since college, so taking the plunge to start my own venture seemed like a natural next step. I observed the ecommerce market closely at my previous job.

There were many companies that were solving the transaction and logistics problem with ecommerce, but no one seemed to be helping consumers buy better. That is when the idea struck and we started FindYogi – a product recommendation app that helps consumers make better buying decisions.

  • What is the key to your business’s success?

Perseverance. We did not get things right in the first attempt. A lot of important innovations took multiple tries before we could get them done successfully. Realizing the importance of those tasks and not giving up helped us grow.

  • What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?

Getting the best people to believe in you and work with you is the toughest and most rewarding thing for any internet technology company. We have been extremely patient with hiring. We meet as many people as possible, especially in our extended network, but we are offer to bring someone on board only when we are very sure of his skills and attitude.

  • Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?

We use Asana for task management across teams. It has helped improve our productivity a lot.

  • What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?

Customer satisfaction is a function of our product. We just concentrate on making sure that our product does what it promises. That delights the user and makes her want to talk about us to her friends.

  • What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Courage; perseverance; empathy.
