Let’s hear from them a little more about their wonderful venture. What made you start your venture? When did you start it? Musicfellas was started to satisfy our own desires. We wanted a platform where we could buy music from our favourite artists and discuss about that music with friends. It first started out as a personal blog by one of the founders and eventually took shape of a full-fledged website. The conception of the idea happened around August 2011 but we started working on it properly only after 6 months around Feb 2012. It was finally launched on 29th November 2012. Have you reached break-even? No, we haven’t reached break – even yet. But yes, we have started seeing some good sales since our launch only a few months ago.
What has been the key to your business’s success? The key to our venture’s success has been making a high quality product, focusing on good design and constantly communicating with our users for their feedback and suggestions. What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them? The biggest challenge in a consumer-based internet start-up is reaching out to more users. The same is the case with us. We are trying to overcome that by using social-media in a big way. The artists have also helped us spread the word. Do you have a mentor who guides/ advices you on matters of the business? We’ve been lucky to have been incubated by TLabs – A Times Internet Backed startup accelerator based out of Noida. Abhishek Gupta, Arpit and Abhimanyu at TLabs have been very supportive and have helped us throughout. Apart from them, we keep reaching out to mentors from the start-up and music community from time to time. Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations? We are building this on Ruby on Rails since that is what the team was most comfortable with and felt that it was the right technology to use. What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion? We believe in one single philosophy – Customer is always right 🙂 We listen to our users keenly, try to understand what they want and build features accordingly. What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur? For anybody to be successful in life, they would need: 1. Perseverance 2. Passion 3. Domain knowledge To enjoy some awesome music, connect to www.musicfellas.com
