Established by father-daughter duo, Payal and Bharat K Doshi, Prime Softech Solutions works to enable businesses to run more efficiently, gain greater insights into strategies that work and automate business processes. Starting with their primary product solution PREXAM, in a short span of time, they have expanded to cover a wide range of software solutions. We chat with Payal Doshi about their venture.
An Excerpt from the Interview:
• What made you start your venture?
In 2007, my father, Mr. Bharat K. Doshi first introduced me to this brilliant idea to develop software that would randomly select questions from a database and compile a test for the student based on his choice of topic and marks. When I completed my Masters from USC in Computer Science in 2011 and started Prime Softech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., I decided to take this up as my first project.
With the help of knowledge that gained academically and two engineering classmates, I was finally able to bring this dream into reality. PREXAM was launched as a beta version initially for T.Y.B.com students and apart from a few small bugs, the software ran flawlessly. This boosted my confidence and we launched and advertised for the CA-CPT (Charted Accountancy Entrance Exam) in February 2012 and got a tremendous response from students throughout India.
• What has been the key to your business’s success?
Accurate selection of methods and practices for marketing and implementing them effectively has earned us tremendous success. Further, constant efforts to stay in touch with students online through social media, through telephone, emails and other sources gives students confidence about the website.
• What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?
In the education industry, you have to stick to the educational calendar. Each year, you need to look for new customers. This restricts penetration into the market because each year you have to work hard to capture and maintain the same market share. We launched PREXAM for institutes in June 2014 and it is expected to bring this to an end. Here we would be tying up with institutes directly.
• Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?
My father guides me on this venture. In addition to this there are many books and many examples which have inspired me to make correct decisions for the company.
• Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?
Most of our regular operations are carried out using online open source/ free tools.
• What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?
We regularly have feedback rounds where we ask users to fill up a feedback form with few questions. Feedback is then thoroughly checked. We call students if we require more details on their feedback. This feedback and suggestions are put into development queue. We try to include each suggestion in to PREXAM as much possible
• What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
As an entrepreneur most important thing is to: 1) Believe in yourself and your ideas 2) Be dedicated 3) Patience is the most important quality when you are starting something new because it will take time to bring back returns.
