Sending a parcel or product can be a logistics nightmare. With the hours spent on coordination, the chance of lost packages and efforts to ensure packages arrive at their destination unharmed, most of us find courier services lacking. That’s where Qikship, founded by Vikrant Pathak, Shalabh Kulshreshtha and Gaurav Tyagi comes in. Qikship is an on demand shipping platform that enables customers to send shipments anywhere in the world with a few taps on a mobile app. An excerpt from the interview:
- What made you start your venture?
While living away from my family, whenever I had to send anything home, I have faced many problems on multiple occasions. This brought about the basic thought to develop an app for easy courier.
- What has been the key to your business’s success?
The key to success for our business has been a great team and consistent hard work. We are working to solve problems in the logistics sector and developing some break through solutions.
- What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?
Our biggest challenge was to deliver the best with limited resources. So we commit to our customer based on realistic estimations and set practical expectations. In terms of customer acquisition and retention – Discounted rates is widly followed strategy by funded startups but that does not make the customer loyal. Our strategy is to provide the best service at a reasonable rate, make a bond with our customer and solve their issues as early as possible. In hiring and retaining the right talent – We give enough space to our employees to discuss and implement their own ideas to keep them motivated.
- Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?
I don’t have a mentor but I discuss issues with my seniors, friends or even family member who always advise and direct me correctly.
- Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?
Yes we are a tech based startup ad we try to leverage technology to the maximum extent for minimizing human effort/error and to bring maximum efficiency. For Example: We have developed many inhouse softwares/apps for daily operational work, we use Assana, Evernote, Slack and Bitbucket for our task managemen, Skype for Calling, Zoho for mail hosting & CRM.
- What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?
We follow a very simple strategy – deliver what you commit and expand when you are ready to deliver.
- What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
