When we envision the future, technology plays a vital role in improving our quality of life. This century, the field of robotics is set to take off and more and more kids dream of building their own robotics systems. But where do they start? Pranavan and Sneha Priya, founders of SP Robotics Works Pvt. Ltd. make those dreams a reality. With over 500 products on offer, 250 of which are designed in-house, SP Robotics Works is a one stop shop for everything related to robotics. We chat with the founders about the venture. An excerpt from the interview:

  • What made you start your venture, SP Robotics Works?

Being a team during our university years, we (the founders – Pranavan and Sneha Priya) have represented and won accolades to India in a few universities abroad and all major universities in India for our robotic expertise. During this journey, we just felt that if we had been provided with the exposure and a platform to learn at a young age – we could have been in the research field during our university years. With the thought “why not give this exposure to kids – and thereby enabling him/her to find their path of interest and excellence; give him enough exposure to be a researcher and inventor of tomorrow rather than a worker” –  SP Robotic Works (Kidobotikz) was launched.

  • What has been the key to your SP Robotics Works success?

The implementation methodology has been the key to the SP Robotics Works business’s success! Robotics Courseware (w/kit) is the product – but that is just one droplet in the ocean of services provided by us. The wrapping up of your services to satisfy the customer’s needs has been pivotal.

  • What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?

The major challenge is to design our robotic kits in a cost effective way with high quality standards (Since small children are involved, the kits have to be rugged and safe). We had a lot of revisions and experimentations but being techies of that background – we were able to crack the solutions much faster.

  • Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?

No one so far.

  • Have you benefited from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?

The cloud technology eases the regular – repetitive works within the company.

  • What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?

Feedbacks at every step – making sure you implement the feedback and thank the customer are some of the key points to keep the customers satisfied. Expansion should be slow and steady at times and fast and furious at other times. It depends on the type of expansion (whether it’s implementing the existing or new). We plan to launch the digital version of its courseware to inspire more students and enable them to learn with fun at their convenience. The same will be soft-launched in Chennai within few months and then expanded gradually to various geographies, initially South India. This will enable children to start learning from their home – anytime they wish – with the kit shipped to them and complete online trainer support for queries. Moreover, knowledge centers will also be setup in prime locations to provide special trainings and act as common place wherein the children can spend any amount of time to collaborate, work, experiment and get free guidance from our technical team
