• What made you start your venture?
Our love for good food is the basis of this venture. However, the want to create something on our own and hunger for the satisfaction it brings with it has played a significant role in setting up our venture. Also, we were intrigued by the growth and opportunities in the e-commerce industry in India.
• What has been the key to your business’s success?
Success comes naturally when a company finds a gap between the services available and the needs and wants of its potential customers. Worldwide there is a intermingling of cultures creating an increasing awareness of global food. We make it convenient for one to experience that from their home kitchen. Convenience coupled with services that hand pick, taste-test and impart related pairing information and recipes for the products most definitely lead to customer satisfaction.
• What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?
The Indian e-commerce industry is rapidly growing; however people are still sceptical about ordering food products online. Standard of delivery, urgency and inability to touch and feel the product, still hampers the decision to purchase online. To compete with the stores that have thousands of overwhelming products on shelves, we stock handpicked products and along with our subscription boxes, help food enthusiasts sample products they would probably have just missed on the shelves. We also encourage and stock local gourmet products, which don’t make it to shelves easily. Serving/cooking suggestions and related information on our website help educate the customers.
• Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?
It’s challenging to start a business that does not have many reference points in terms of similar lines of business. Hence we’re continuously learning from people we interact on a daily basis, be it suppliers, customers, retailers, producers, PR agents, social media activists, logistic firms & even friends and family.
• Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?
An effective e-commerce platform assists not only customers to make purchases but also the back end operations such as order management, logistics, delivery status, inventory etc. It is imperative to use a platform that keeps up with the challenges that e-commerce businesses face.
• What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?
Customer satisfaction is key and we maintain imperative standards of delivery and timelines to continue receiving their repeat orders. We rely on digital platforms to increase our customer base, since our target audience is digitally savvy. We also undertake various activities that are targeted towards food enthusiasts across the city.
• What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
