An Excerpt from the Interview: What made you start your venture? When did you start it?
Being a French Woman living in India, I had two options: to work within the management of a top MNC or taking a chance in doing something that I really love. It all started around 2009 after travelling across India for about five years. That’s the age of my eldest child today. Thanks to meeting my partner in life.
What is your business model?
First, we are in the service and activity of providing decorative products that enhance living spaces. A passion I have within, to give a smile to people I meet. We do this through wall coverings / custom wallpapers, glass & window films, vehicle graphics and custom graphics designing.
We handle challenging projects for various clients ranging from MNCs, public institutions, schools, hospitals & homes through WallDesign. We have started offering a range of wall sticker kits that help customers in designing an ambiance in their room.
We are selling these products on many ecommerce websites as Do-It-Yourself stickers or decals. WallDesign offer a large collection of self-adhesive wall decals or stickers to quickly and easily create a beautiful & theme-based room ambiance. We have a wide range of designs for kids rooms to living spaces & bedrooms (www.walldesign.in). In short, our products & services make your walls, windows and any surface look good and useful!!
Have your reached break-even? What has been the key to your business’s success?
My partner is definitely one of the keys to our business and life successes. We are still in the process of putting up a strong organization. This requires some stronger investments that can sustain the model to satisfy an increasing number of customers.
What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?
Our line of business is a combination of creative graphic arts and technology in the printing and signage fields. Our constant efforts is to create great graphics design, finding the best media for executing our products/projects, interacting and maintaining relations with industry experts, not compromising on quality, not buckling under price-war trends and sticking to our business plans. Constant learning has given us better opportunities.
Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?
Since we’ve started our operations, we have been an active member of the BNI Inspire Chapter of Bangalore – a business group of business owners and entrepreneurs which promotes open networking to success. We urge budding entrepreneurs to join BNI for understanding the power of networking and creating long-term relationships.
Have you benefited from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?
The new printing and cutting operations of Graphic Arts combined with adhesive and magnetic media enable us to create our WallDesign products.
What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?
With reference to prospective clients:
• We first touch base through mail, then call, if needed we meet and create the design concept.
• We always ensure that the customer is satisfied in any of our projects / products. Internally we ensure our employees are satisfied and learn to accept mistakes thus maintaining quality.
• We believe that if our product or project conforms to a high quality output, then we will expand eventually.
